Lanefield, Queensland


Lanefield is a rural locality in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the, Lanefield had a population of 107 people.

Geography

The Main Line railway passes through Lanefield as does Western Creek, a tributary of the Bremer River.

History

The locality takes its name from its railway station which in turn was named by the Queensland Railways Department after pioneer settler John Lane.
Visual evidence of previous coal mining exists in the form of old workings throughout the area.
