Romapada or Chitraratha or Lomapad was the youngest son King Vidarbha of Yadava and an adopted son of King Dharmaratha of Anga. King Vidarbha had many sons but his friend King Dharmaratha had no son and so King Dharmaratha adopted his friend King Vidarbha's youngest son Romapada. When King Vidarbha became old made Vidarbha Kingdom and made Kratha as the next Yadava ruler and made his second son Bhima as the ruler of Vidarbha and went to forest. King Dharmarata named his adopted son as Chitraratha and also that people called him Romapada. When King Dharmaratha grew old, He decided to make Romapada as the ruler of Anga.
After King Dharmaratha went to forest, Romapada became the King of Anga. He married Vershini who was the elder sister of Kausalya and made friendship with King Dasharatha of Ayodhya who was the father of Rama. He ruled Anga without the path of dharma. This angered Devaraja Indra and did not give rain only to his kingdom. He became worried. He asked what the solution to solve the problem of drought to his royal priest. The royal priest told the reason of droughtness that the angryness of Devaraja Indra made his kingdom drought. He asked what next to do. The royal priest said that he can do penance to Devaraja Indra. So the king made severe penance to Devaraja Indra and pleased him. Devaraja Indra decided to give the boon of rain but gave a condition that he must welcome a sage and honour him with respect. He again became worried and so he asked his royal priest about this problem. The priest said that his best friend King Dasharatha became unhappy because his first queen Kausalya gave birth to a baby girl. The priest also said that he can adopt the daughter of his friend Dasharatha and when she grow up into the age of marriage, She must marry Sage Rishyasringa was the way to bring back rain to destroy droughtness in his kingdom. Romapada also made the same way which was told by his royal priest to bring back rain. He honoured and welcomed Sage Rishyasringa and married his adopted daughter Shanta to sage Rishyasringa. The new married couple lived near the mountains of Thirumala which was now called Sringeri in Karnataka.
