The King Khalid Foundation is a charitable organization established in Saudi Arabiain 2001 by the family of the late King Khalid, who ruled the country from 1975 until his death in 1982. The Foundation is a royal, family-run organization and is managed by a Board of Trusteescomposed of a minimum of nine and maximum of eleven members. The Board of Trustees is the highest authority, which draws up the general policies and specifies the Foundation’s functions for the purpose of attaining its objectives and supervises its implementation. The Foundation was managed by the Director General, Princess Al Bandari Al Faisal from 2001 to 2019.
Overview
Since establishment, the Foundation has accomplished a number of development and research projects through funding social and economic development projects including training, capacity building, research, and policy development programs; and by awarding the most outstanding citizens and corporations for their contribution to the social and economic development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Projects
Development and implementation of "The KKF Model for Community Development in the Qilwah Province" which is the first time in the country that a local community has been engaged in actively identifying and advocating for their development needs.
Implementation of a number of training and capacity building programs, such as “Capacity Building in the Social Participatory Development field,” dedicated to building and transferring knowledge related to sustainable development and governance.
The “Warmth Campaign” – the first emergency relief project of its kind designed to help the areas of the country affected by extreme cold weather.
Research
“Women and Child Abuse Prevention Law” which has been adopted by the Government of Saudi Arabia - the first time the legislation developed and proposed by an NGO has been adopted by the government.
A research study into developing an "Islamic Orphans Village Organization"

King Khalid Foundation’s Program Department aims to provide funding and support for training, capacity building, technical assistance, community development and emergency relief projects in the field of social and economic development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
