Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni
Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni is an Indian Bengali television period drama series which airs on Bengali Entertainment Channel Zee Bangla and is also available on the digital platform ZEE5. It premiered on 24 July 2017 and is telecast daily. The serial was earlier produced by Subrata Roy and now it is produced by Zee Bangla. This serial is also dubbed in Bhojpuri for the Big Ganga channel. It completed 1,000 episodes on its third birthday.
The show stars Ditipriya Roy as the titular protagonist, Rani Rashmoni, the deeply spiritual and liberal-minded "Rani" of 19th century Bengal. The show also features Bangladeshi model-actor Gazi Abdun Noor and actor Gourab Chatterjee among others in prominent supporting roles. The show has been received well by the audience. It has always remained in top-5 and became the Bengal topper for several weeks. It is one of the most successful shows of Bengali television, breaking several records. Still today, its popularity has never decreased. It has recorded 13.8 ratings as its highest TRP.
Series overview
The drama Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni centers round Rani Rashmoni and narrates the events of her life, starting from her being a young girl of 11, named "Rani", residing with her Vaishnav father and aunt in her ancestral village Halisahar to marrying ‘Babu Rajchandra Das’ of Janbazar, Kolkata; and how she becomes an extraordinary woman fighting against all odds during the then British ruled patriarchal society.
