Justus Oehler


Justus Oehler is a German Graphic Designer currently a partner at Pentagram Design Ltd in their Berlin office.

Education

Oehler’s early education was carried out at the Ecole Preparatoire in Marseille, the German School in Tokyo and the German school in Athens. He consequently speaks, German, French, Greek and English.
He went on to study visual communication in Fachhochschule Munchen, Munich, Germany, and in 1998 attended the Central School of Art and Design in London graduating with a master's degree in Graphic Design.

Career and work

Oehler primary works on corporate identities, publications, environmental design and visual communication programmes for a diverse array of clients worldwide.
He began his design career at Buro Rolf Muller in 1985 and in 1988 joined Pentagram Design in the London office where, in 1995, he was then invited to become a Partner. In 2002 he then went on the set up the company’s
Oehler has been involved with the development of corporate and brand identity and the application and implementation of these identities across all media for the last 25 years. Projects have included award-winning work for clients such as the National Grid Company, Smith & Nephew, the National Portrait Gallery, Deutsche Telekom, the Museum für Kommunikation Hamburg, the World Economic Forum, Trussardi, Tiscali, the Premier Automotive Group, Vivantes and the Philarmonic Orchestra.
He is currently brand consultant to Villeroy & Boch and the Star Alliance, for whom he developed the name and brand identity in 1997.

Awards

Oehler’s work has been selected for Communication Arts, and Graphics annuals and has won numerous awards including the , DDC gold, NY Type Directors Club, Tokyo Type Directors Club, and many more.
