John Taylor (Mississippi judge)


John Taylor was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Mississippi from 1818 to 1820.
John Taylor, Born in Pennsylvania, Taylor "came early to Mississippi", where he "was a member of the territorial legislature, and of the convention which organized the State". The judges appointed in 1818 to the supreme court under the first constitution were Taylor, John P. Hampton, C. J., W. B. Shields, Powhatan Ellis, and Joshua G. Clark.
Taylor "retired from the bench in 1820". One source states that he "was a lawyer of ability, and was held in high esteem as a judge".
