John Baker (entrepreneur)
John Baker, M.S.C. is a Canadian entrepreneur. Baker founded D2L while studying Systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo.
Baker was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross in 2017—earned for his work to advance learning across the country and around the world. Baker has also won the Top 40 Under 40 in Waterloo Region in 2009, has been inducted into the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in Waterloo Region as Intreprid Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009, and received the University of Waterloo Engineering Young Alumni Achievement Medal in 2010.
John is on the Governing Council of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Board of Directors for the National Ballet School, and Past-Chair of Communitech.
