Jim Carlin (politician)




Jim Carlin is the Iowa State Senator from the 3rd District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa Senate since winning a special election in 2017 against challenger Todd Wendt. Before that he had served in the Iowa House of Representatives, having represented the 6th district after previous incumbent Ron Jorgensen retired. He currently resides in Sioux City, Iowa with his wife Donna and their three children.
As of February 2020, Carlin serves on the following committees: Veterans Affairs, Human Resources, Labor and Business Relations, and Ways and Means. He also serves on the Justice System Appropriations Subcommittee, as well as the Commercial Air Service Retention and Expansion Committee, and the Family Development and Self-Sufficiency Council.
