Jerry Kiernan
Jeremiah Kiernan is an Irish former long-distance runner.Biography
Kiernan was born in Listowel, County Kerry. He represented his native country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, where he finished in ninth place in the men's marathon. His teammate, John Treacy, claimed silver in the same race. Kiernan twice won the Dublin Marathon: 1982 and 1992. A former Irish record holder over 3000 metres, Kiernan was also a sub-four-minute mile runner.
Kiernan now coaches many athletes and trains regularly in the UCD campus.

Kiernan taught at St. Brigid's Boys School, Foxrock, for approximately 40 years until retiring in June 2013. He lives in the Rathgar area.
Kiernan visits Italy regularly, especially the Milan region where he visits his close friend and speaks to with fluent Italian.
He is a supporter of Shamrock Rovers and an FC Barcelona holder of a season ticket.
He enjoys picking blackberries on a Tuesday afternoon with his dog Ronan. He normally has them eaten by the time he returns home.
