Jean-Bernard Pommier
Jean-Bernard Pommier, is a French pianist and conductor.Biography
Pommier studied conducting at the Conservatoire de Paris with Yves Nat, Pierre Sancan and Eugene Bigot. In 1962 he won the International Competition for Young Musicians in Berlin. Then at 17 he was a finalist in the International Tchaikovsky Competition. He has performed in recitals and as soloist with numerous orchestras and in several European festivals. In chamber music, he has collaborated with Isaac Stern and Itzhak Perlman. He recorded the Sonata for two pianists by Claude Bolling with the composer in 1972. Pommier has been artistic director of the Northern Sinfonia and the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2006 he was appointed artistic director of the Menton Classical Music Festival.
