Jacob Edwards (comedian)


Jacob Edwards is a British comedian, writer, comic actor and television host. He was a regular on BBC 3's Live at the Electric, appearing as the stand-up character Roger Show business.
Edwards hosted CTRL Freaks on London Live, the hidden camera prank series, where he took control of contestants' lives through their social media feeds. He is slated to appear in the feature film Burke & Hare, alongside Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis.

Early life

He was born in Westminster, London. Edwards grew up in Brighton, Sussex. He showed an early interest in performance, appearing at The National Theater in both directed by Sir Richard Eyre and Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George. He also appeared in Which Witch at the Piccadilly Theatre.
Jacob studied Archaeology and Classical Civilization at the University of Nottingham.

Career

Edwards started his career as one half of the comedy double-act The Sunday Defensive. The pair enjoyed successful runs at the Edinburgh Festival, performing at the prestigious Pleasance Courtyard in Friend and Foe in 2009 and Further Complications in 2010.
They made TV appearances and hosted Movie Mates, a weekly movie review for Orange mobile.
As a solo act, Edwards performed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2013 in his own show 'Faux Latino Show Pony' at the renowned Assembly Hall, and received 4 and 5 star reviews.
Edwards made television and film appearances and appeared in television and online ads. In 2015, Edwards played Ed Miliband in The Green Party's Change the Tune election campaign, which gained over 1 million views online, and was later broadcast.
In 2017 Edwards appeared with George Clooney in commercials for Nespresso. In 2018 he appeared in commercials for First Direct, and Maltesers.
