International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences
The International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences, Inc. is an organization of national engineering and technological sciences academies. Its primary mission is to advise governments and international organizations on technical and policy issues, to improve the understanding of engineering and technology by the public, to offer a forum for discussion and communication, to support cooperation, and to improve education and practice of its field of interest.
CAETS was founded in 1978 by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the , the US National Academy of Engineering and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and, as of 2007, has more than 25 members among the national academies of engineering of many major industrialized countries. CAETS is incorporated as a 501 non-profit corporation in the District of Columbia, US.
In October 2007, CAETS issued a Statement on Environment and Sustainable Growth:
