Integrity Blues


Integrity Blues is the ninth studio album by American rock band Jimmy Eat World, released on October 21, 2016, by RCA Records. The album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, known previously for collaborating with Paramore, M83 and Nine Inch Nails, and was preceded by the single "Sure and Certain".

Production

Recording took place at Sunset Sound, Chez JMJ and Unit 2. Justin Meldal-Johnsen and the band handled producer duties. Sessions were engineered by Mike Schuppan, Carlos de la Garza, Meldal-Johnsen, Jim Adkins and Zach Lind, with assistance from Geoff Neal. Ken Andrews mixed the recordings while Dave Cooley mastered them at Elysian Mastering.

Release

On August 21, 2016, the band premiered the song "Get Right" on BBC Radio 1, and confirmed that the song would appear on their forthcoming album, as well a lengthy world tour being in the works. It was available on the band's official website for free download. On August 30, the band debuted the lead single "Sure and Certain" on KROQ-FM. On the same day, Integrity Blues was announced for release in October. On September 6, the band revealed the album's track listing and artwork. At the end of the month, the group appeared at Life Is Beautiful festival.
Integrity Blues was released on October 21 through RCA Records. In October, the group embarked on a US tour, followed by a European tour in November. In January 2017, the group appeared on Conan, performing "Get Right" and "Integrity Blues". "Get Right" was released to alternative radio stations on February 28. Between February and May, the group performed across the US. They were supported on the April and May dates by Beach Slang. In July and August, the group performed alongside Incubus in the US, followed by appearances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK.

Reception

Released to positive reviews, the album became the band's highest charting release in the UK, reaching number 21 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was the tenth best selling album of the week in the United States.
