Hunter Cervenka


Colby Hunter Cervenka is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles organization. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins.

Career

Boston Red Sox

Cervenka was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 27th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft out of Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas.

Chicago Cubs

In May 2012, he was acquired by the Chicago Cubs as the player to be named later in the Marlon Byrd trade. Chicago released Cervenka on May 29, 2015,

Sugar Land Skeeters

On June 12, 2015, he signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. After eight games with Sugar Land,

Atlanta Braves

Cervenka signed with the Atlanta Braves on July 7.
Cervenka was invited to spring training in 2016, but started the season with the Double A Mississippi Braves. He was called up to the majors for the first time on April 11, 2016.

Miami Marlins

On August 6, 2016, the Braves traded Cervenka to the Miami Marlins for Michael Mader and Anfernee Seymour. Cervenka was designated for assignment by the Marlins on December 14, 2017. After clearing waivers, he was outrighted to Triple-A on December 21. Cervenka was released on March 8, 2018.

Baltimore Orioles

On March 13, 2018, Cervenka signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles. He was released on March 30.

Sugar Land Skeeters (second stint)

On April 19, 2018, Cervenka signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Detroit Tigers

On June 3, 2018, Cervenka's contract was purchased by the Detroit Tigers. He elected free agency on November 2, 2018.

St. Louis Cardinals

On November 6, 2018, Cervenka signed a minor league deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was released on July 30, 2019.

Baltimore Orioles (second stint)

On August 7, 2019, Cervenka signed a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
