Holy Island (Lake Charlevoix)
Holy Island probably got its name from a connection to the Mormons, who built an altar on the island in the 1850s. This island is heavily wooded and is just inside Lake Charlevoix; it is the only island in the lake. Greenleaf Avenue runs down the center of the island and is flanked on both sides by homes fronting the lake. All homes have fishing and/or boat docks. The mainland is reached by Greenleaf Avenue, which crosses over a pony truss bridge near the northern end of the island. The bridge was built in 1903.
