Hideroku Hara
Hideroku Hara is a Japanese legal scholar and professor emeritus at Shiga University, who received Doctor of Law degree from Waseda University in 2002. His research covers Commercial Law, Corporate Law and Securities.Career
During his youth, Hara attended a local school in São Paulo, Brazil, where his father, Otohiko Hara, worked as an executive with Japanese corporation Nichibo. Thereafter, he graduated from :ja:兵庫県立神戸高等学校|Hyogo Prefectural Kobe High School, and received his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Hitotsubashi University in 1980.
He enrolled at Hitotsubashi University Graduate School. As soon as he became Assistant Professor at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business, he was sent to the United States of America as Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1990. After he was appointed Associate Professor at Shiga University in 1995, he was sent to Switzerland as Visiting Scholar at University of Zurich Law School in 2000. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2001 at Shiga University.
In 2002, he received the degree of Doctor of Law from Waseda University. In 2003, he was categorized by MEXT in the highest rank called :ja:大学教員#大学院教員の資格|"D-maru-gō professors" who are officially qualified both to supervise Ph.D. students in their researches as chief examiners of doctoral dissertations and to take charge of lectures in doctoral program only after passing the scrutiny of the publications by MEXT at the time of the establishment or reorganization of master's programs, doctoral programs and so on. He was both officially commended in 2015 and subsequently appointed professor emeritus in recognition of :ja:名誉教授#概要|"distinguished achievement in education or research" as regulated in :ja:学校教育法|School Education Act by Shiga University
During this period, he has consulted for government agencies, law firms, and multinational corporations. He was invited to teach at Japanese Central Railway School where the employees of Japanese National Railways were trained to move into Ministry of Finance at the time of the reconstruction of JNR to which
his granduncle, Kizo Yasui, dedicated himself as the 4th Chairman of Audit Committee. He was also invited to teach at other universities such as Aichi University Law School from the time of the establishment for the specific period of time under the monitoring by MEXT; Konan University Graduate School; Aichi University Graduate School; Shimane University; Meijo University and Chukyo University.Overseas research
