The Hattiesburg Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in southeastern Mississippi that covers four counties - Covington, Forrest, Lamar, and Perry. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 123,812. It is part of a wider region known as the Pine Belt.Counties
