Hachimantai Station was opened on October 17, 1931 as Azukisawa Station on the privately owned Akita Railways, serving the village of Hachimantai, Akita. The line was nationalized on June 1, 1934, becoming part of the Japanese Government Railways system. The JGR became the Japan National Railways after World War II. The station was renamed to its present name on April 1, 1957. The station has been unattended since October 1, 1971. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987.Passenger statistics
