Location

Located in the south of the municipality, Governor Boyles is bounded to the north by San Francisco, to the east by Villa Teresita, to the west by Buenavista and to the south, by the municipality of Alicia. Governor Boyles is from the town center, Poblacion.

History

Formerly its name was Sampongon, which means summit. It is used to be a constituent barangay of Pilar. It became a separate barrio annexed to Ubay in 1951. In 1965, its name was changed to Governor Boyles, in honor of former Bohol governor, Eutiquio O. Boyles.
