Gordon Dunlap Bennett
Gordon Dunlap Bennett, S.J., is a former Auxiliary Bishop in Baltimore and Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Mandeville. He later was banned returning to active ministry in two Dioceses in the Catholic Church's Baltimore Province after a sexual harassment allegation surfaced against him. An active Jesuit, he is currently a member of California's Jesuit province.Bennett was born on October 21, 1946 in Denver. He was educated at Mount St. Michael's in Spokane, Washington, Loyola High School in Los Angeles, then–Loyola University in Los Angeles, the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California, Loyola Marymount University, and Fordham University in New York City for the Professional Diploma in Administration and Supervision. Gordon Bennett was consecrated an Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore on March 3, 1998. Bennett assumed his duties as bishop of Mandeville, Jamaica, on September 24, 2004. After resigning as Bishop of Mandeville on August 8, 2006, Bishop Bennett was appointed Peter Faber, S.J. Fellow in Pastoral Theology and Ignatian Spirituality at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.Episcopal succession
