Gidhni


Gidhni is a village in Jamboni CD Block in Jhargram subdivision of Jhargram district in the state of West Bengal, India. The headquarters of this CD Block are located here. This place is also known for Sri Sri Thakur AnukulChandra Ashram. Recently Durga Puja is also celebrated in a large way by two clubs Gidhni Sporting Club and Gidhni Purbasa. Although Bengali is the official and most spoken language but there are many other languages like Kurmi, Santali, jharkhandi.

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Gidhni had a total population of 1,935 of which 997 were males and 938 were females. Population below 6 years was 203. The total number of literates in Gidhni was 1,337.

Transport

Gidhni is the last station of West Bengal on the Kharagpur-Tatanagar line of South Eastern Railway.
SH 9 from Durgapur to Nayagram passes through Gidhni.
