George Myron Sabin
George Myron Sabin was a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.Education and career
Born in Strongsville, Ohio, Sabin attended Western Reserve College and read law to enter the bar, beginning a private practice in Madison, Wisconsin in 1858. He was a Colonel in the United States Army during the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1866, serving as a judge advocate in the military district of Vicksburg from 1863 to 1866 in the 16th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Sabin was in private practice in Madison from 1866 to 1867, and then in Treasure Hill, Nevada from 1868 to 1872, in Pioche, Nevada until 1877, and in Eureka, Nevada until 1881.Federal judicial service
On July 20, 1882, Sabin was nominated by President Chester A. Arthur to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Nevada vacated by Judge Edgar Winters Hillyer. Sabin was confirmed by the United States Senate on July 26, 1882, and received his commission the same day. He served in that capacity until his death of inflammatory rheumatism on May 12, 1890, in San Francisco, California. He left an estate worth $1,500.
