GeckoLinux

GeckoLinux is a Linux distribution based on openSUSE. It is available in two editions: Static, which is based on openSUSE Leap, and Rolling, which is based on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

Features

GeckoLinux's ISOs are based on openSUSE's images. Different editions come with different desktop environments, installed open-source programs, and ready-to-work proprietary programs and/or drivers. GeckoLinux also comes with font rendering through open-source software and pre-installed TLP for power management. It is open-source, available in public repositories.

Differences from openSUSE

GeckoLinux has an offline Live-USB/DVD installer for both Static and Rolling editions. It comes with pre-installed programs and downloaded applications packages from the Packman repository. Since it is a pre-configured distribution, desktop programs can be deleted with data and dependencies, and it does not offer installation of some additional packages after its OS installs.

Reception

Dedoimedo wrote a non-positive review of GeckoLinux 150.180616, saying that it had "issues with multimedia playback, visual glitches and the graphics driver".
Jack M. Germain explains how & why "GeckoLinux doing for the OpenSuse/Suse world much of what Linux Mint did for the Ubuntu universe".
