Facundo Campazzo


Facundo "Facu" Campazzo is an Argentine professional basketball player who is currently under contract with Real Madrid. At a height of 1.81 m tall, he plays at the point guard position.

Professional career

Campazzo began playing for the Argentine League club Peñarol Mar del Plata in 2008. He was named the Argentine League Newcomer of the Year, and the Argentine Cup MVP in 2010. He was also named the Super 8 Tournament MVP in 2011 and 2013, and the Argentine League Finals MVP in 2012 and 2014.
On August 30, 2014, he signed a three-year deal with the Spanish League club Real Madrid. In the 2014–15 season, Real Madrid won the EuroLeague championship, after defeating Olympiacos, by a score of 78–59, in the league's final game. Real Madrid eventually finished the season by winning the Spanish ACB League 2014–15 season league playoff finals, after a 3–0 series sweep in the finals series against Barcelona. By winning that title, Real Madrid also won the triple crown.
On August 20, 2015, Campazzo was loaned to Spanish club UCAM Murcia. He spent both the 2015–16 ACB season, and the 2016–17 ACB season with Murcia. He returned to Real Madrid for the 2017–18 ACB season.
In May 2018, Real Madrid won the 2017–18 EuroLeague championship, after defeating Fenerbahçe Doğuş in the final game with 85–80. Over 30 EuroLeague games, Campazzo averaged 7.9 points, 4.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. On 24 May 2018, he finished in fourth place in voting for the Liga ACB MVP of the season.
On June 26, 2018, he re-signed with Real Madrid to three-year deal.
On May 3, 2019 he was named EuroLeague MVP for the month of April. In the third place game of the 2019 EuroLeague Final Four, Campazzo set an all-time record for assists at 15 in a Final Four game. He surpassed Terrell McIntyre's record from 2008.
On February 6, 2020, Campazzo joined Stefan Jović at the top of the all-time single-game assists chart by dishing 19 assists in a 103–97 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague win over the Alba Berlin.

National team career

Campazzo defended Argentina at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He defended Argentina for gold medals at the 2012 South American Championship and at the 2014 South American Games, silver medals at the 2014 South American Championship, the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, and a bronze medal at the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship. He defended Argentina at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2019, he defended Argentina bringing home a gold medal from the Pan American tournament in Lima.
