Erica Stanford


Erica Stanford is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the National Party.

Personal life

Stanford lives in Okura in the Auckland region and is the daughter of a Dutch immigrant. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and has worked in export sales as well as producing local television shows. She is married, meeting her husband while at high school, and has two children.

Political career

At the 2017 general election Stanford stood in the electorate of. She had not previously stood for parliament or other office. Prior to running for parliament, she worked as Senior MP Support for Murray McCully. The East Coast Bays electorate has been a safe seat for National since 1987; since then McCully has held either this seat or which covered a similar area. Stanford was selected by National to replace McCully as their candidate after he decided not to seek re-election.

In her maiden speech Stanford spoke on matters of conservation, sustainability and marriage based on love rather than gender and a desire to see political parties work with one another to seek enduring, practical solutions.
