Emanuel Navarrete

Emanuel Navarrete Martinez is a Mexican professional boxer who held the WBO junior featherweight title from 2018 to July 2020. As of June 2020, he is ranked as the world's best active junior featherweight by BoxRec, second by The Ring and third by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.

Professional career

Navarrete turned professional in 2012 and compiled a record of 25-1 with 22 wins by knockout before defeating Isaac Dogboe by unanimous decision for the WBO junior featherweight title on 8 December 2018 at the Hulu Theater in New York City. Navarrete entered the bout on a 20-fight win streak.
In February 2019, Dogobe's advisor revealed that terms for a rematch had been agreed. The bout took place on 11 May 2019 at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona. Navarrete employed similar tactics from the first fight, utilizing his height and keeping Dogboe at bay with his long jabs and powerful hooks. The fight would end up being a beatdown, with Dogboe, despite trying hard himself, being on the receiving end of the punishment. In the twelfth round, Dogboe's trainer finally threw in the towel and Navarrete was awarded a technical knockout victory in his first title defence.
On 17 August, 2019, Navarrete had his second defense of his WBO title, against undefeated Francisco De Vaca, ranked #10 by the WBO at the time. De Vaca was overmatched by the champion, with Navarrete dropping him once in the second round, and finishing the bout with a third-round knockout at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
In his next title defenese, Navarrete faced the WBO #2 ranked contender, Miguel Elorde, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, as part of the undercard for Tyson Fury vs. Otto Wallin. He made easy work of Elorde, with the referee stepping in to end the fight in the fourth round.
In his next fight, he again made easy work of his opponent, beating Francisco Horta in four.
On 22 February, 2020, Navarrete faced Jeo Santisima, ranked #4 by the WBO at the time, on the undercard of Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Santisima hadn't been stopped until that point, and Navarrete made promises to be the first to do it. Navarrete gave Santisima a lot of punishment through the rounds, with the referee finally deciding to stop the contest in the eleventh.
