Edward Deming Andrews


Edward Deming Andrews was a leading scholar and expert on the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, or the Shakers. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1930. During the decade including and after WW2, he was Dean and Head of the History Department at Scarborough School, in Scarborough-on-Hudson, New York. He frequently corresponded with Thomas Merton.
He was a Guggenheim Fellow for the academic year 1937–1938.
