Eddie Lucio III


Eduardo Andres "Eddie" Lucio III is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, having represented Texas's 38th District since 2007.

Early life and education

Lucio was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He attended James Pace High School in Brownsville. Upon graduation, he attended Texas Tech University on an athletic scholarship. He later received a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2005, he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law.

Election history

In 2006, he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives and was overwhelmingly re-elected in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Rep. Lucio represents District 38, which is composed of the southwest region of Cameron County.

Committees

Rep. Lucio III serves as the vice-chairman of Calendars Committee and sits on the Natural Resources and Land and Resource Management Committees. In April 2014, the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Joe Straus, appointed Rep. Lucio to the state's SWIFT Advisory Committee, which aims to ensure that efforts to improve the state's water supply are properly and effectively implemented.

Personal life

Lucio is currently an attorney in South Texas focusing on water law and policy. His father, Eddie Lucio Jr., is a Democratic member of the Texas Senate.
