Douglas Uggah Embas


Douglas Uggah Embas is a Malaysian politician. He is currently one of three Deputy Chief Ministers of Sarawak. He was seven-term Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Betong constituency before deciding not to contest in the 2018 Malaysian general election. He is currently the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Sarawak for the Bukit Saban constituency in Sarawak, representing the United Bumiputera Heritage Party.
He was the former Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities in the federal Barisan Nasional government cabinet until his resignation after his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak. Uggah was appointed to the Cabinet after the 2008 election, to replace Azmi Khalid as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. He had previously served in non-Cabinet government posts such as Deputy Minister of Transport, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister. After the 2013 election, he was appointed as Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities under the new Cabinet of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
