Diocles of Corinth

Diocles of Corinth was an ancient Greek athlete from Corinth who won the stadion race of the 13th Ancient Olympic Games in 728 BC. The stadion race was the only competition in the first 13 Olympiads.
Diocles is said to have been the lover of Philolaos of the Bacchiadae family who became a Nomothete in Thebes. Diocles then left Corinth to live with Philolaos in Thebes. They lived together for the rest of their lives and were buried in adjoining tombs.
