Desagati Principality


Desagati refers to minor principality which was controlled by its head, Desai who was the protector of citizens, mediator of society and who also played the role of a judge, head of the army and tax collector. It is said that more than 120 Desagati principalities existed in North Karnataka between 1565-1947 A.D.
