Department of Criminal Intelligence
The Department of criminal Intelligence was the central domestic and foreign intelligence organisation in India under the British Raj. It was set up in April 1904 under Sir Harold Stuart on recommendations of Sir Andrew Fraser, following the report of the 1903 Police Commission instituted by the then Viceroy of India Lord Curzon. In 1920, it was renamed and became the Intelligence Bureau.
