Daniel Joseph Davies is an American actor, screenplay writer and producer. He wrote, co-produced and starred in the 2010 comedy filmEd Gein, the Musical, about cannibalistic murderer and graverobber, Ed Gein.
In 1997, he wrote and hosted the instructional video, The Games We Used to Play, which teaches children how to be healthy by inspiring them to play the physically active games that were played before the advent of video games. In late 2007, he started a production company with Steve Russell, DaviesRussell. In 2010 he wrote, co-produced and played the title character in Ed Gein, The Musical, a micro-budget horror/musical/comedy film. Davies wrote the screenplay for the film, West of Thunder with Jody Marriott Bar-Lev. In it Davies plays the starring role of Henry Seed. Davies is a contributor to Nature's Pathways online magazine. Davies co-starred with Sadie Kaye in Miss Adventure meets Motörhead, that as of May 29, 2013 was the highest-rated video of all-time on Will Ferrell/HBO's Funny or Die. It will also be seen on HBO's Funny or Die and Comedy Central. Davies co-stars along with an ensemble British cast in the British Independent Film Award nominated mockumentaryfeature film "Flim, the Movie". He played the role of Scorpion alongside the Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah in the Hollywood/Nollywood collaboration, Tempting Fate. It premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in 2015 and is a Dove Foundation Award-winning film. Davies also co-starred with Ayo Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe-Etim and Eric Roberts in the Nollywood/Hollywood comedy A Trip to Jamaica that was released in September, 2016. This film also premiered in London in Dec 2016 and held the highest per-screen average in the UK during its box office run. The film has been nominated in 5 categories for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2017. It also has been nominated for a 2017 African Academy Award It was the No. 1 Nollywood box office film of 2016, and, as of December 2016, became the No. 1 Nollywood box office film of all time. It was eventually eclipsed by The Wedding Party in 2017. Davies was nominated for Best Supporting Actor along with Majid Michel and John Dumelo in the 2017 Golden Movie Awards for his portrayal of Michael Rice in A Trip to Jamaica. He won the award July 22. The award ceremonies were televised on the African Movie Channel throughout Africa as well as the UK, Germany, France and The Netherlands. In 2019 he starred in the Lionsgate and Indican Pictures revenge thriller Wronged. After a limited theatrical release it was released worldwide via DVD and OnDemand Feb 26th, 2019. In October 2019 Davies founded The Film Forte, a film and music festival in Appleton, WI. As part of the Film Forte he also created the National Independent Film Association and the NIFA Awards to honor independent films and music as well as industry luminaries. In November 2019 Davies was included, via his film West of Thunder, in The Encyclopedia of Best Films by Jay Robert Nash. Davies' film A Trip to Jamaica premiered on Netflix worldwide Dec, 13th 2019. It became a Top Ten Most Trended and Popular new Netflix addition for the month of Dec, 2019 Davies is a recurring guest on RTHK Radio Television Hong Kong's Mental Ideas Podcast heard throughout Hong Kong and China on RTHK Radio 3. It premiered on April 2, 2020 and the subsequent 12 episode series has a variety of celebrity guests. It was created by and is hosted by Hong Kong radio and TV personality Sadie Kaye. In 2020 and early 2021 Davies has three films coming out, a horror anthology "I Dream of a Psychopomp", an action/thriller "The Runners" starring Tom Sizemore, Neal McCoy and Glenn Morshower, and "Mr. Thursday" a horror/thriller. In 2019 Dan Davies was approached by of and ultimately cast in a starring role playing ML Funk in Starr's docu-drama
