Dale Gentry
Dale LuAuverene Gentry was an American football end.
Gentry was born in Umapine, Oregon, in 1917 and attended Walla Walla High School in Walla Walla, Washington. He played college football for Washington State. He was selected by the Associated Press as a first-team end on the 1941 All-Pacific Coast football team. He also played for the baseball and basketball teams at Washington State.
He served in the military during World War II. He played on the Saint Mary's Pre-Flight Air Devils football.
He played professional football in the All-America Football Conference for the Los Angeles Dons from 1946 to 1948. He appeared in 42 games, 27 as a starter, and caught 74 passes for 1,001 yards and five touchdowns.
Gentry also played professional basketball with the Spokane Blazers of the Pacific Coast Basketball League.
Gentry died in Portland, Oregon, in 1968. He died from a heart attack one day after his son was killed in an automobile accident.
