Cupra el-Born


The Cupra el-Born was first unveiled in 2019 as the SEAT el-Born all-electric car concept from the Spanish car manufacturer. It was to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show later in 2019 as a concept car, with sales planned from 2020. In July 2020 the production version was revealed under SEAT's sub-brand, as the Cupra el-Born. First deliveries are expected in 2021.
The el-Born is based on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform and will be manufactured at the Zwickau plant in Germany alongside the Volkswagen ID.3 which shares the same platform. The el-Born is named after a neighbourhood in Barcelona.

el-Born concept

The el-Born concept was unveiled under the SEAT marque and was fitted with a 62kWh battery pack with a claimed range. The car is powered by a electric motor, able to accelerate to 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds. The battery is compatible with 100kW DC supercharging and features a thermal management system.
It features driver assistance systems capable of Level 2 autonomy for the control of steering, acceleration and deceleration.

el-Born production model

Production of the el-Born was confirmed in July 2020, and would be sold under the Cupra sub-brand. It will feature a larger a 77kWh battery pack compared to the smaller 62 kWh battery in the concept car.
