Crown Wetlands


The Crown Wetlands lie on Little Cayman, one of the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean Sea. Collectively they form one of the territory's Important Bird Areas.

Description

The Crown Wetlands cover about 40% of the area of the island. Apart from Tarpon Lake they all dry out seasonally. They vary greatly in size and consist of four distinct types:
The IBA was identified as such by BirdLife International because it supports populations of West Indian whistling ducks, least terns and white-crowned pigeons.
