County Kildare Tournament


The County Kildare Tournament was a 19th-century men's grass court tennis tournament held initially at Naas, County Kildare, in Ireland, established in 1880. It was a featured event of 1880 Men's Tennis tour.

History

The first edition was staged at the Naas Military Barracks, Naas. It was a featured event of 1880 Men's Tennis tour. In 1881 the tournament was then staged at the County Kildare Club until it was abolished in 1890.

Notes: Challenge round: The final round of a tournament, in which the winner of a single-elimination phase faces the previous year's champion, who plays only that one match. The challenge round was used in the early history of tennis in some tournaments not all.
