Costume Designers Guild

The Costume Designers Guild was founded in 1953 by a group of 30 motion picture costume designers. As of this date, international membership includes over 750 motion picture, television, and commercial costume designers, assistant costume designers and costume illustrators.
The CDG publishes the CDG Newsletter six times a year, and a magazine, The Costume Designer, quarterly. It produces the annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, which recognizes excellence in costume design in motion pictures, television, and commercials.
In 1976, the Costume Designers Guild joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, becoming Local 892 of the IATSE based in Los Angeles.

Costume Designers Guild Awards

Founded in 1999, the Costume Designers Awards honors Costume Designers in Motion Pictures, Television, and Commercials annually. The "Gilda" statuette was originally manufactured in sterling silver by the Greek jeweler Bvlgari, and was created by costume designer and CDG member, David Le Vey. As of this date, title sponsors of these evening awards, which take place in Los Angeles, are Lacoste and Disaronno. At the ceremony each year, costume designers in motion pictures and television are honored in a number of categories. In addition, one distinguished costume designer is selected to receive a Career Achievement Award. Actors, directors or producers are also honored with a Spotlight Award, and Distinguished Collaborator Award.
