Committee for a Workers' International (2019)
The Committee for a Workers' International is an international association of Trotskyist political parties. The organisation considers itself a continuation of the Committee for a Workers' International that was founded in 1974. In July 2019, the Socialist Party and its international supporters from nine countries declined to attend the original CWI's International Executive Committee meeting and instead held a meeting in London in which the CWI was declared dissolved and "refounded" by the delegates in attendance.
History
In 2018 and 2019, a dispute broke out in the CWI culminating in a split over political differences. One side continues to use the name CWI today. The other major side, initially using the name CWI, renamed itself International Socialist Alternative in February 2020. Some of the key documents relating to the split are published at marxist.net and some of the documents published by the 'In Defence of a Working Class Trotskyist CWI' faction are collected in the book In Defence of Trotskyism.Sections
