Clinton, Georgia
Clinton is an unincorporated community in Jones County, Georgia, United States. The community is located along US 129/SR 11/SR 18/SR 22 near the southwest border of Gray.History
Clinton was originally called DeWitt, and under the latter name was founded in 1808. The present name is after DeWitt Clinton, seventh and ninth governor of New York. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place as the "Town of Clinton" in 1816. A post office called Clinton was established in 1821, and remained in operation until 1924. The town's municipal charter was officially dissolved in 1995.Abolitionist leader
