Saco River
in
present-day
Conway, New Hampshire
, and
Fryeburg, Maine
. He was
killed
at the
Battle of Pequawket
in
1725
during
Father Rale's War
.
Paugus
translates
into
English
as "The Oak".
Paugus Bay
was named for him.
