Camden Town Hall
Camden Town Hall, known as St Pancras Town Hall until 1965, is the town hall for Camden London Borough Council. It is located along Euston Road, opposite the main front of St Pancras railway station, with Judd Street to its rear. It has been Grade II listed since 1996.History
The facility was commissioned to replace some aging council offices in St Pancras Way. The site selected for the new building had previously been occupied by some Georgian terraced housing. It was designed by Albert Thomas, who also designed housing schemes for the St Pancras Borough Council, in the neoclassical style. It is a steel-framed building, clad with Portland stone, which was constructed between 1934 and 1937.
The building served as the headquarters of the Metropolitan Borough of St Pancras and continued to operate as the local seat of government after the formation of the London Borough of Camden in 1965. An eight-storey extension was added in 1977.
The council started to refurbish the building in February 2020 and the works, which are being designed by Purcell and managed by Lendlease, are expected to complete in 2022.
