California Kings

California Kings is a 1997 gay pornographic film which was produced and distributed by Falcon Studios, written by Jack Voorhies and directed by John Rutherford. It stars Eric Hanson, Tom Chase, Mike Branson and Jeremy Penn among others. The running time of the movie is approximately 73 minutes.

Plot

Tom Chase calls the Mattress World customer representative —who is masturbating and speaks his phone sex lines only to be averted by quickly speaking cleaner ones when Tom heard —to have a mattress delivered to his house at 1:00 pm. In the next scenario, after going to a wrong address where a couple reside, the delivery men are able to deliver a mattress to Brian Daniels. Unable to carry the mattress himself, Brian receives their help and then does the threesome. Back to the earlier scenario, Tom says he does not like his mattress and carries it with his friend Mike Branson to Mike's house, where they have sex. Finding the mattress too soft, Mike dumps it at a curb. Jeremy Penn, Dale Rhodes, and Dean Edwards lift the mattress to the truck and do the threesome at the outdoor fields alongside it. The film ends with another customer representative of Mattress World speaking on the phone.

Reception

praised the bodies of Tom Chase and Mike Branson as "bods to die for" and their scenes together as "terrific" and "sexy". He also praised newcomer Brian Daniels as "adorable" and ":wikt:pouty|pouty" and newcomer Marc Stewart as a "handsome blond". Nevertheless, he found the remaining film "rather bland" and technical setups "below average". A reviewer from FriskyFans.org rated this film four out of five stars as a formulaic, "relatively simple film" with John Rutherford's "flawless" direction and Jack Voorhies's "nicely done" script. The reviewer considered the scene between Chase and Branson as "well worth the price of admission."
In 1998, Tom Chase and Mike Branson won the GayVN Awards for the Best Sex Scene and won the Gay Erotic Video Awards for the Best Erotic Scene.
