Beth Spotswood


Beth Spotswood is a writer, blogger and video host, best known for her weekly Culture Blog on the San Francisco Chronicles SFGate.com.

Biography

Born in San Francisco, California and raised in Mill Valley, California, Spotswood attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco and Philadelphia University. After graduating in 2000, she returned to San Francisco and began working at Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon in 2001.
She started writing her personal blog, "I'll Flip You, Flip You For Real" in June 2004. She was hired by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2007 to write for their Culture Blog. She posts about politics, culture and events in the Bay Area.
Spotswood writes for the San Francisco Appeal and VidSF. She also hosts videos found online and on KOFY-TV. She has been quoted by ABC News, The Drudge Report and the Los Angeles Times.
In December 2009, Spotswood won the Christmas Show of the Literary Death Match, held at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.

Honors

On July 20, 2011, Spotswood was chosen as the finalist in 7x7 Magazines "Hot 20 Under 40 Readers' Choice" awards.
She has been featured on the most eligible list put out by the Nob Hill Gazette.

Personal

Spotswood lives in San Francisco's Mission District.
Her father is former Mill Valley Mayor and current Marin Independent Journal columnist Dick Spotswood.
She is currently a writer and editor for CBS Digital Media and CBS-5 San Francisco.
