The Bairabi–Sairang line is a railway line from Bairabi to Sairang. It is a part of Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways. An estimated of land is required for the construction of long Bairabi-Sairang rail line. The Bairabi-Sairang rail link will require construction of 130 bridges, 23 tunnels and four stations namely Hortoki, Kawnpui, Mualkhang and Sairang. The cost of construction from Bairabi to Sairang is estimated at INR 2384 crores, which was later revised at INR 5021.45 crores.

;South spur to Kyaukhtu railhead to Sittwe in Myanmar:
Future line development plan entails extending the line from Aizawal to south to Zochawchhuah-Zorinpui on the India-Myanmar border, from where it will then be extended to 90km-long "Sittwe-Kyaukhtu railway" to connect it to Sittwe Port as part of Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project.
"Zochawchhuah-Sairang railway" in India, survey for the 375 km line rail line from Sairang to Hmawngbuchhuah on border near Zochawchhuah-Zorinpui was completed in August 2017 and it is currently under construction.
"Kyaukhtu-Zorinpui railway line" is 200 km planned railway line which is under survey.
;East spur to Kalemyo railhead in Myanmar:
Future extension spur is from Aizawal to east to Zokhawthar. Future line development plan entails extending the line from Imphal to Moreh on the India-Myanmar border, from where it will then be extended to the existing railhead at Kalay in Myanmar to form part of the ambitious Trans-Asian Railway.
Future phase would entail from the existing Kalemyo railhead to another existing Shwebo railhead for a shorter direct route to Mandalay, and beyond to existing and under-development routes by other nations to the North Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Nanning in China.
As of February 2020, Railway Board Chairman inspected the 51.38 km long Bairabi-Sairang new rail line project which is nearing completion. The project was executed at a cost of INR 5,021.45 crore.

Indian Railway has already converted the current 84 km railline from Katakhal to Bairabi. Passenger services started on this line on 27 May 2016 by formal inauguration of Silchar - Bhairabi Passenger train service.
Its further 51.38 km Bairabi Sairang line extension from Bairabi to Sairang in Mizoram is under construction, with target completion date of March 2019 as per status update in March 2016. Due to rainy season and compensation issues, date of completion has been revised to March 2020. Nov 2017: Of 11.46 km tunnel to be dug for this 51.38 km Bairabi to Sairang rail line, 8.6 km tunneling work is completed. 22 of the 23 bridges have been completed as of November 2017.
