April 1257 Imperial election


The imperial election of April 1, 1257 was an imperial election held by the Mark of Brandenburg, the Bishopric of Trier and the Duchy of Saxony to select the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. The Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and the Mark of Meissen abstained, due to conflicts involving their respective territories.
As a result of the election, Alfonso X of Castile was named Holy Roman Emperor.
