Annie Chu
Annie Chu FAIA is a Chinese-American architect, interior designer and academic in Los Angeles who is known for "the fusion of art and design." As a dedicated educator working across the country and abroad, Chu was recognized as a 2016 Presidential Honoree of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects Distinguished Educator Award, “For me the teaching part is very important." Chu later got appointed Vice President of the International Interior Design Association Board of Directors which supports clients through a network of 15,000+ members across 58 countries. She also is recognized for design excellence, her passion, talent, and dedication in making an undeniable contribution to the city of Los Angeles. She provides a supportive voice for women designers. "Perhaps they are more likely to listen and empathize, and to find ways to integrate responses into design and project management."
Chu is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Co-Principal with Rick Gooding and partner to Michael Matteucci at Chu + Gooding Architects a Los Angeles-based design firm. She is a professor of interior architecture at Woodbury University’s She received her master degree in building science from Columbia University and a bachelor degree in architecture from SCI Arc. Chu also participates in organizing the Unmentionables Symposium at Woodbury University Hollywood Outpost in Hollywood, April 6, 2019. The event aims to provoke creators and scholars to reconsider rarely mentioned critical ideas in spatial practice and theory.
