Andrea Marcolongo


Andrea Marcolongo is an Italian essayist and writer.

Life

Marcolongo was born in Crema in 1987. Marcolongo studied at the University of Milan and at the Holden School of creative writing in Turin.
She is a classics expert, linguist, and a former speechwriter for Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi and the Italian Democratic Party. She worked for him through two elections.

Books

''The Ingenious Language''

Marcolongo became known for her book La lingua geniale, which advocates reasons for learning Ancient Greek. It became a bestseller and has been translated into several languages. the book had sold 200,000 copies. The Guardian said that Marcolongo makes a "convincing case for singularly expressive power" and she shows "us new ways of seeing and understanding the world."
