American Society of Health Informatics Managers

The American Society of Health Informatics Managers is a professional member association for IT professionals who specialize in Health IT. ASHIM is a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed in 2009, in response to data from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Education, and independent studies that indicated a 2009-2015 shortfall of approximately 51,000 qualified Health IT workers required to meet the needs of hospitals and physicians as they move to adopt electronic health care systems. ASHIM sponsors a credentialing exam to certify the healthcare industry knowledge of working level IT professionals, known as the Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional exam.
