    Before the album

Prior to the album release, the group had released an EP every two years since 2007. The first seven tracks on the album were released prior to the album either as singles or on the extended plays. Tracks 1, 5, 6, and 7 were released together as The Cabin Sessions . Track 2 was released on the extended play by the same name, Fathers Be Kind . "Easy to Love", was released on The Verse, the Chorus and again later as a single. Track 4 was released as a single in December 2012. The final four tracks are new to the album. They chose to rerecord their singles "Fathers Be Kind" and "Easy to Love" because they thought they were the strongest songs to rerecord for their first album. Because many of the songs had been released before, the band had played them live for a year and a half prior to recording them for the album.
